Laundry and Dinner

Well, hi! It has been a few days since I have been around and here is a few reasons why....

Trying my hand at liquid laundry soap....

from this website. I have made powered laundry detergent and now I am going to see which one I like better ~ liquid or powered.

I have been making my own detergent for a couple of reasons which are: 1) trying to rid as many as possible chemicles from our lives 2) less outgoing on the ole' budget. So far I am very happy with the endevor and recommend giving it a try. Usually there are a few adjustments needed to be made, each family is different where this is concerned.

The other night I made up a dish of chicken fried rice using brown rice instead of white rice. Delicious, absolutely delicious. To accompany the fried rice I made an asian coleslaw. Oh yummers! It doesnt pictures well but it enjoyed by all. Some even requested for left overs for lunch the next day. Here is the recipe for the coleslaw it was based on a recipe from Allrecipes. By the way if you are watching your budget and are trying to be a tad frugal anything with cabbage does the trick! Really try this recipe it taste gourmet:)

Asian Coleslaw

Mix together and set aside

3Tbl. Dark Sesame Oil

2Tbl. Sugar

3Tbl. Spicy Rice Vineager

1/2 seasoning packet from Chicken Flavor Top Ramen

In a frying pan toast with med/low heat until light brown (this has such a wonderful fragrance):

1/2 cup almond slices

3Tbl. Sesame Seeds

Shred 1/2 head green cabbage

Shred 1/8 head red cabbage

Chop 5 green onions

Combine the cabbage and green onions. Crush into small/medium pieces ramen noodles in with cabbage mixture. Toss in the almond slices and sesame seeds too. Then toss in the dressing!

This is so tasty I hope you enjoy.

A low cost, green eco friendly, healthy natural way to do laundry is to make a homemade liquid from soapberries which grow on the Chinaberry tree and have been used for thousands of years. They work very effectively.

Shannon, Your homemade soaps sound great! It is something I have been wanting to do. I hope to find time to give it a try.

The Chicken Fried Rice and Asain Coleslaw look really good! We use alot of cabbage, especially during the winter, when lettuce or other greens are limited.

I'm going to make note, to give it all a try.

Blesings,
Kris
